the weather outside is frightful... and rainy.

sometimes i wish i lived in England. or at least Canada. it just seems as if everybody there are just a ton more....

oh, how do say it...

INTERESTING???

i mean, really, all of my favorite bands are from there, and i wish i could talk in that amazing accent, plus it actually SNOWS there!

maybe i'm overreacting a bit.

anyways, i've been listening to the Killers...

i can't seem to find any of their other albums here, though.

i've only listened to 5 songs, and i'm in love.

human and spaceman are my favorites so far.

funny thing is, this was my dad's christmas present.

so i got a lot of nice stuff, but the big kapow is gonna come today or sometime this weekend. i've been saving up my money for a laptop. it's gonna be the dell inspiron. in either white or black.

i also got this super soft robe (which my dad made fun of since it's only 5% cashmere, but it still feels like heaven.)

plus, a ouija board, which i've been wanting for about 2 years now. (eeeeviilll!eeeeviilll!!!!!)

ouija said my husbands name will be paul brebrak. what kind of name is that?

anyways...

did some after christmas sale shopping at crate&barrel, restoration hardware, and pottery barn. my three favorite stores (that's a joke) with my mom and grandma. my mom got really mad at me for no reason. that wasn't fun. then we had pei wei though. the best chinese food were ever gonna get in Texas.

this is our christmas tree ( i know it's sideways). it's pretty bare and wimpy if you cant already see that. but it's pretty when it's dark outside and the lights are turned on.

i'm afraid that this blog is becoming a "life" blog. the one thing i was scared for it to become. i just don't know what else it could be though. i dont have that many interesting clothes, so it couldn't be a fashion blog. i do cook, but not enough for this to be a solely cooking blog. i'm not creative enough for this to be an art blog, and i'm not musically cultural for this to be a music blog.

i'm all mixed up.

au revoir readers.

i'm baaa-aackk....

i know that there's been a massive, huge, colossal, carvernous amount of space here where i haven't been writing, but fret not-- there is hope on the horizon. during this span (dex) of time, i have spent it in Washington D.C. (our, or my nation's capitol) and the wonderful, incredulous (i think i just made that up) New York City. i'm gonna start a few new things on here, like:

1: RFOTD
stands for: Random Fact Of The Day
comes from: The Book Of Useless Information
why i love it (and you should too): nothing in there is useful, but you can turn to any page and find out something you didn't know.
why it will last: there are three other similar books, all over 200 pages filled with amazing useless knowledge.

2: My D.C./N.Y.C. travel journal
what it is: while i was away, i kept a journal (religiously, i might add.) (no, not in the name of God, but yes, the other definition.) of what i did, ate, and did more of.
comes from: directly from the travel journal i kept close at hand 24/7.
why i love it: because its miiinnneeee!!!!!!!!
why it will last: it won't, but that doesn't mean it won't be interesting.

3: Endless lists of lists
what it is: obviously, it is a list of lists of whatever i like.
comes from: my head, and what i write down in my listography book.
why i love it: you will now have access to whatever i'm thinking of in the organized form of lists!
why it will last: as said above, it is endless.

4: MPOTD
what it stands for: My Pick Of The Day
what it is: whatever i see, hear, or taste that i love will be recorded one at a time.
comes from: everywhere imaginable
why it will last: there is an everlasting source of discovery everywhere you look.

all this starting tomorrow!

stew is overrated

it honestly is.

grandmother (really its grandma) made her "treasured" (i use that term lightly) beef stew. yuck.

i was therefore forced to eat this because she is just so nice to make us this. now, i am not saying that she's not, but i do so terribly hate her stew.

i, as i do every time i eat it, doused it in salt and pepper so that i could not taste the tomatoes or celery, both which i cannot bear.

moving on...

i have no pictures (BIG SURPRISE!). *hit i am getting so bad at that. i do not like to write out profanities (but i do say it a shameful amount of times) so i put asterisks on at least one of the letters.

also, just some other little grammar pet peeves:

  • i hate it when "like" is written out when used as a spacer

  • it irritates me when someone spells something incorrectly on a sheet of paper (or anything else) then does not change it (i have way too many examples.)

  • i dont read books i dont understand. (not really a grammar thing)

  • incorrectly structured sentences bug me. a lot.

HAPPENINGS:

  • so, as recently, twilight has been getting some major free ad space. they've been in (as far as i know):

Vanity Fair

Teen Vogue

Entertainment Weekly

an infinite # of Seventeen and CosmoGirl! issues *oooh, edward is soo hawt!* *scream**swoon*

yes, i was making fun of tweenie boppers.

  • i'm going camping this weekend starting friday so dont expect many posts until after we all give Thanks, my few, if any readers.

  • that's all folks!

How much do you love carrots?

I love them a lot.
So do these guys.
So, heres whats on my mind (there's quite a few):
  • I am sick. I feel dreadful. I feel like a lonely low-life because the only thing i did today was go to Costco. But i got to wear my slippers in there. But i got free coffee in there. But i got delicious pumpkin cheesecake samples at least one million times even though it had that eewy orange jello junk on there (wonder where all that's going.)

  • i am starting to love american apparel more and more. i REALLY love:

all the innovative costumes

the circle scarf

slim slacks

shiny leggings (in black lame)

jersey skirt

and lots more....

  • my favorite drinks at starbucks are:

chai tea latte no water

peppermint white chocolate mocha

pike place

breakfast blend

signature hot chocolate

caramel frappacino

caramel macchiato

I AM SO ASKING FOR STARBUCKS GOLD FOR CHRISTMAS!

  • why doesn't dog food have calories? calories are still calories no matter what they're consumed by.

  • i cannot freakin wait till thanksgiving and christmas!!!

random ramblings...

i feel like shit.
i dont usually have a 'potty' (i hate that word so passionately) mouth, but i think that word describes what i feel like pretty vividly.
my nose has been running nonstop all day long and none of the classrooms had a single box of tissues.
the one good thing about today is that we had a wrap party in drama. we had block sched. today so it was xtra long.
megan's mom made her oh-so-verry-yummy cinnamon oatmeal cookies.
the best.
pretty boring.
also, my dad showed me his old holga camera that he'll be letting me use.
going to watch ugly betty, the office, and 30 rock tonight.
eating barbeque chicken sandwiches.
i wanted chinese.
tomorrow night.
starbucks tomorrow morning.
will have more soon....

post-halloween desires

yes, i do fully realize that this holiday has had its moments in the sun (really, the moon) but i am still having fantasies of costumes. as i did not dress up this year, i have had more costume cravings than should be humanly sane. today (and the past week) i have been wishing i had been a ring director. i promise danny devito, i am not copying (Danny Devito was a ring director in Big Fish, for those of you who are not totally obsessed with midgets and Tim Burton). not slacks and a top hat, but more of a fanatical ring director. im thinking tutu, crazy patterned tights, red sparkle vest, assymetrical shrunken blazer, crimed frizzy hair and a black silk top hat. just like frosty. not.

SHOES!!

so, this saturday (that would be today) we had a garage sale. yesterday, i was searching through my mom's old shoes (i know--its starting to sound like a very badly edited story). usually, i can never find anything i like of hers because we have two completely different tastes. but, luckily, i found 4 pairs of shoes that i really did like. the first two, i love, but the last two, i just cant seem to decide. here, just look at them:

shoe credits:
oxfords: nine west
kitten heels: unknown
other heels: nine west
sandals: unknown (it says rockport on the sole, i dont know if thats the brand or the store.)

so i went pumpkin picking yesterday and sunday. sunday was a good day, but i stupidly forgot my camera. silly me. monday, i remembered it, but am still debating on whether or not i like the pictures or not. i ended up having pumpkin pie from boston market sunday night.
brownie chunk cookies

tonight i am for sure going to make these cookies. im doubling the recipe (i know, who cares, right?) so i can make four dozen.

Pumpkins

so, i've been going to starbucks this week and they finally have their pumpkin cream cheese muffin. i endure the spring and summer months just to get my hands on this amazing work of baking skills.
me and my mom are going to go pumpkin picking tomorrow. sure, it's just at the farmers market, but were going. i'll take pictures.

The Ting Tings

their drum, blurred
blurred again

So last night was pretty much the best night ever. okay, of this year at least. i sware it was amazing. i saw the Ting Tings at the House of Blues. it was a smaller room so you could hear it all, and it was a little more intimate.

i would have taken some more pics, but they would have all been the same. we stayed until there was only about ten people (regular attendees) in the tavern. while i was waiting though i sort of moshed my way through to where some other girls were. when they saw that i had a vinyl (i really had just bought it from there) they said that i had to get it signed. so one of them gave me their all access pass.

YEESSS!

unfortunately though i was too much of a weenie and i only went so far as across the rope. whoopee.

anyways, the opener sucked but the ting tings rocked.

Cooking

Darn it. I made the absolutely delicious pancakes with amazing (semi) homeade syrup. Maple Glazed Apple Pancakes with Pumpkin-Maple Syrup. (i made it up all by me-self.) Yum. And I didnt take any pictures. It looked pretty too. If you havent guessed already, i love to cook. I was browsing the September issue of Bon Appetit and i came across these yummy-looking cookies. Brownie Chunk Cookies. I think I'll make them tonight them bring them along when i go to this fall campout.

Au Revoir Mesdames(or missieurs)!

they had a lot more pictures online. i sware i am falling in love with it. when i move to NYC after i graduate college (i dream far and wide) i am so looking for a place like this. or atleast with a bathtub in the middle of a floor (hopefully with a loft over it. if not, ill build it, okay the carpenters will)

chick fil a

i am very, very frustrated at chick fil a. today i have gotten one of their formerly magnificent chicken salad sandwich. they have decided to change its magnificence.
they put lettuce on it.
they also decided to put it in a different container.
they also decided to make it chunkier.
yuck.

ok, well, there was this old retro cartoon down there (its labeled snugglepuss) it was a video, and now i dont know where it went. im serious. it was right there...right there...right there...there right....

Hair

yes, i realize that its on its side.
this is my hair. this is me.
+im not wearing makeup+

Cleaning

i hate cleaning. my dads out of town (NYC-the big apple) and my mom's making me clean the entire house. also, she keeps saying 'freakin' which gets really annoying after youve heard 10 times in the past minute. ew. you know, if you get the packaged coffee from starbucks, it just isnt the same. it tastes disgusting. especially when youre drinking it in front of a computer screen (i dont know that that has anything to do with it, but jeez, this post was really random) (by the way--my favorite coffee is french roast, ya i know that you cant get that anymore and you have to get pike place, which is cheaper, so thats kinda better) (also, just so you know i hate using email or texting expressions--no wonder the bill is so high-- such as jsyk, or brb, or aka, &c.)

restaurant--dallas, TX

i know most people do not live in dallas, TX--much less Texas, but i have just got to express my feelings about this one restaurant in the Bishop Arts District (if any of you do live in Dallas, you probably, or, hopefully know where this is. please try it out) anyway, i have to brag about this. their fries are awesomely amazing, the sweet potato fries are the best. their ketchup (they call it catsup) is made with cinnamon and is entirely extreme. and their lemonade, the best part of the entire meal is heavenly heavenly. it comes in blueberry, strawberry, and peach. also, what i just realized is that i havent even mentioned the name--its Tillman's Roadhouse. this is amazing. IF YOU EVER COME TO DALLAS--TRY THIS ONE OUT!

while i'm at it, here are my top dallas restaurants (in no particular order):

1. Tillman's Roadhouse (Bishop Arts District) http://tillmansroadhouse.com/
2. Fireside Pies (Henderson part of Knox-Henderson) http://firesidepies.com/
3. Neiman Marcus Mermaid Bar (Neiman Marcus, Northpark Mall) http://http//tinyurl.com/4vl7qx
4. Neiman Marcus Zodiac Room (Neiman Marcus, Downtown) http://tinyurl.com.4slp29/
5. Chuy's (Knox part of Knox-Henderson/ restaurant located across from apple store if that helps)http://chuys.com/

WISH LIST

i think i am obsessed with net-a-porter.com literally.

here's what im thinking would look great on the beach.

that's all i could do in this time span.

designer junk

dont get me wrong. i love my fair share of designer clothing.....and other stuff. the only thing is that its basically a rip off. picture yourself by the pool of you best friends house saying this (in a snooty, high-pitched voice):

"ohh, look at me in my faah-bulucsious MELISSA ODABASH swimsuit! haha, dont you hate me even more now?

when you could just say....

"hey look at my brand-spanking new swimsuit! such a steal! i got it for fifteen dollars at old navy!" so there.
